We are alive because of the life force energy flowing through us. The energy or “Ki” flows within the physical body using pathways called “chakras” and around the body in a field of energy called the “aura.” The free and balanced flow of energy is the reason for health. When the flow of energy is disrupted, it causes diminished functioning within the tissues and organs of the body. Therefore, it is a disruption of our energy flow that is the main cause of illness. Energy is also affected by thoughts and feelings. When we have positive thoughts and feelings, we increase our energy flow and we feel better. When negative thoughts become lodged in the subconscious mind, they create a disruption of our energy flow and we do not feel well. Depending on the site of the blockage, certain tissues and organs can then become affected by the disrupted flow. If the blockages are not released, then we can eventually become ill.
Reiki clears and straightens the energy pathways which assists in healing on all levels.
The client usually lays on a massage table, but may be seated in a chair if necessary. A standard treatment includes placing the hands on various areas of the head, shoulders, stomach, back, knees and feet. The client remains fully clothed. A treatment lasts 45 to 60 minutes.
Reiki has a positive impact on all conditions from headaches, colds, flu, tension and anxiety to more serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease, herniated discs and broken bones. Reiki helps to shorten healing time, and can help to reduce the side effects of medical treatments such as chemotherapy. It helps to reduce or eliminate pain. It has also had dramatic results in reducing stress and stress related illnesses.
People’s experiences vary during a Reiki treatment. Most people feel the energy as heat. They may feel tingling. Nearly all feel very relaxed. Some people drift off to sleep.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. There is nothing you must believe in order to learn or receive Reiki.
Anyone can learn Reiki. It does not take years of practice. The ability is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master Teacher through the attunement process. Once you have received an attunement, Reiki is with you for the remainder of your life. Because of this, it is easily learned by anyone. Reiki is a pure form of healing.
Self-healing can be done by anyone attuned to Reiki, from level l and higher. There is an attunement at each Reiki class level. This is one of the unique advantages to Reiki. As soon as one is attuned to Reiki energy, they can give themselves (as well as others) Reiki treatments. It works just as well on yourself as it does on others.
No, Reiki is complimentary to medical or psychological treatment. Reiki will improve the results of any medical treatment. It is recommended that you see a licensed health care professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki works in conjunction with, and is complementary to, all other forms of healing, psychological care, surgery or any other method of alternative health care. It has been documented that most patients that receive Reiki leave the hospital before those that don’t.
Reiki is not taught the way other healing energies are taught. The ability is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master through the attunement process. Once you have received an attunement, Reiki is with you for the remainder of your life. You can’t loose it and it won’t wear off. While one attunement per level is all that is required, additional attunements will strengthen the level of energy. Students often report their own healing of personal problems and raised level of awareness after an attunement.
This can be done by a level II or higher Reiki practitioner. A second level attunement empowers 3 symbols, one which is the distance symbol. By using a picture of the person you would like to send healing to, or writing down the person’s name on a piece of paper or by simply thinking of the person and also using the distance symbol, you can send Reiki to them no matter where they are. The Reiki energy will be received and aid them.
